Larva is about two worms who live in the sewer and interact with random objects that fall through the grate. Yeah, that’s the whole premise.  It’s pretty weird and kind of gross, but it’s oddly entertaining. Each episode is 90 seconds long (the first season has 104 episodes!) so if you get into it, you have tons of content. There’s even a movie, Larva Island.

If you like TV shows with tons of famous guest stars (like...so many...SO MANY) and think puberty is kind of hilarious (but only since you’re no longer going through it), Big Mouth might be your jam.  Following a group of 7th graders, as they experience changes in their body and each other, this show also has a lot of heart as the creators put in some of their real-life experiences. There’s also the ghost of Duke Ellington if that sweetens the deal for anyone.

Any sort of political correctness goes out the window when dealing with the Murphys, a foul-mouthed, dysfunctional family set in the 1970s.  It’s based on the stand-up comedy of Bill Burr, who is not only a co-creator of the show but also voices Frank Murphy, the angry, sexist patriarch of the family.

Voiced by a group of all-stars l Eugene Lee Yang, Chloë Grace Moretz, Riz Ahmed, Nimona focuses on a shape-shifting teen (who also might be a monster) who takes on the duty of helping to prove the innocence of a Knight who was framed for a crime he didn't commit. Nimona herself is also a little unhinged, and becomes progressively becomes more unhinged as the story continue, but that's why we love her.

Based on a book series of the same name, TLKOE is about a group of friends who are forced to fight for their lives, and their town, when giant wormholes open up in the sky, dropping down zombies intent on eating their brains.  It’s creative and fun for kids and adults so it’s an especially good choice if you’re forced to babysit all your nieces and nephews during the holidays.

Surely a group of crazy chicken is always a fun and funny watch. Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is about two chickens, Ginger and Rocky, who are greeted with a new little adventurer into their lives as they are one themselves. However, there's some trouble brewing back at home on the mainland, and Ginger and Roger are going to be needed to save the day. Definitely watch this one with the whole family.

This is the life of a boy named Johnny Test—part two. If you thought the original series ending on Cartoon Network was the last you would ever see of Johnny Test, you were wrong as there's a brand new iteration of the series that was developed specifically for Netflix. Give this a shot if you were/are a major fan of the original series as many have said this show is very enjoyable.

If you want an updated animated dive into the amazing world of Kong, check out Skull Island, which made its premiere via Netflix in June 2023. The show chronicles the journey of a group of shipwrecked explorers stuck in the South Pacific who while trying to survive encounter a bunch scary creatures including a giant ape by the name of Kong—who's not the friendliest to say the least. As of this writing, season 2 of Skull Island has not been green lit yet, but Brian Duffield says that he's more than ready to get a script going when/if it is.

Neglected by their cruel parents, the four Willoughby children send them off on a dangerous vacation in hopes that they get lost (or worse) and then find themselves on their own journey in an attempt to bring their family back together. The animation on this one is so gorgeous, with its texture and colors that the movie feels like a visual candy store.

I absolutely love and still watching anything Garfield related as an adult. Created by Shion Takeuchi, it's a shame that Inside Job on lasted one season because it was really an interesting series that brought something different to the table. While we're on the fence about recommending shows that got an early cancellation as we ourselves can't stand starting a season only to have the plug pulled without any kind of ending, we still think Inside Job is worth the watch due to the overall creative nature of the show.

Same deal with Farzar, who's cancellation we were also bummed about. Created by Waco O'Guin and Roger Black (the creators of Brickleberry and Paradise PD), Farzar kind of had that old school feel of 1990s/early 2000s cartoons, but with more updated graphics. The show focused on Prince Fichael and company as they set out to fight aliens that have taken over their territory. Along the way, the Prince learns that there's something a little bit different about him, but you'll need to watch the show for that.

The Hollow is one of those series that you can quickly get absorbed in as it had great visuals and an equally great storyline. Though the Trailer Park Boys only lasted one season, it brought forth the kind of ignorant carrying on we like in our cartoons. Focused on Ricky and Julian, two convicts who get out of jail after an 18-month prison sentence (which already should tell you a bit about their personalities), the shows hones in on the two men trying to get their lives together afterwards, but people just won't stop messing with them. Isn't that the story of life right there? People won't just stop poking the bear? Yeah, you'll get a kick out of Trailer Park Boys for sure.

We referenced Waco O'Guin's Paradise PD a little earlier, but if you would like to check the series out for yourself, you can do so via Netflix which has all of the seasons available. Running from 2018 to 2022, Paradise PD shows you the ins and outs of a police department that's pretty much not doing any aspect of their jobs correctly (nor do they care about improving either). You absolutely cannot count on any part of the Paradise Police Department, and as a result the show will have you in stitches the entire time.

There's five seasons here, so you've got plenty of binge watching ahead should you choose to indulge.
