1. 'Agatha And The Truth Of Murder'
When it comes to mysteries, Agatha Christie is a legend. In the 1920s during a period of writer’s block and divorce, she tried to take her mind off things by solving the murder of Florence Nightingale’s Goddaughter Florence Nightingale Shore. This drama takes us through the period, also covering her disappearance.
2. 'Angels & Demons'
If you’re a fan of the movie version of Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code, then this is a must-watch. It’s the somewhat lesser-known sequel, also based on the book of the same name. Tom Hanks stars as Robert Langdon in this one too, trying to prevent the Illuminati’s plot to bring down Vatican City.
3. 'Burning'
In Lee Chang’s Burning, we follow Lee Jong-Su as he reconnects with old friend Shin Hae-mi. She asks him to watch her apartment for her while she goes on a trip to Africa and on the trip, she meets a man called Ben who has a strange hobby, which you might be able to guess based on the name of this film.
4. 'Dark Places'
Libby Day’s brother was convicted for the murder of their entire family in the 1980s but years later, she’s presented with evidence from a group of private investigators that suggest that her brother is innocent. Follow her on her journey to seek true justice.
5. 'Everybody Knows'
Penélope Cruz stars as Laura who returns to her hometown in Spain for a family wedding where her daughter disappears mysteriously. The film follows the tension that arises with everyone pointing fingers at each other.
6. 'Freaks'
Freaks follows a seven-year-old girl named Chloe who is forced to stay indoors at all times by her father, who could be overly paranoid or could be hiding some sort of secret. This remains until an ice cream truck driver called Mr. Snowcone convinces her to come outside.
7. 'Hold The Dark'
A writer who is also an expert in wolves is called to a village in Alaska and tasked with taking out the wolves in the area because a woman suspects they are the cause of her child’s disappearance. But naturally, there’s more to the mystery than meets the eye.
8. 'I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House'
Just off the title, this film is one of the more intriguing on this list. It follows Lily, a nurse who takes care of a horror author. She discovers some secrets about the author and the home itself as the horrors it holds beneath the surface.
9. 'In The Shadow Of The Moon'
There are few things better when it comes to mysteries than an unsolved murder case. In The Shadow Of The Moon deals with that as a police officer in Philadelphia tries to track down a serial killer.
10. 'Inside Man'
Denzel Washington plays Keith Frazier, an NYPD hostage negotiator who has to deal with a crew of people taking a bank hostage, figuring out details as he goes on. You’ll be right there with him every step of the way too.
11. 'Session 9'
A cult classic released in 2001, Session 9 follows a crew that works in a mental asylum. The film is guided by the extremely haunting tapes of a former patient, following her regression into insanity and more.

It’s hard to talk mystery without the legendary Sherlock Holmes coming up. In the 2009 film, Robert Downey Jr. plays the detective as he and Watson (played by Jude Law) try to bring down Lord Blackwood.

Set in the mid-1950s, Leonardo DiCaprio plays U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels who investigates the disappearance of a murderer who has escaped a hospital for insane people. He is joined by Chuck Aule, played by Mark Ruffalo.

In another popular film, a pair of coroners realise there is more to the unidentified corpse in front of them than initially meets the eye. Twists and turns come in abundance here as we go through the story of a life.

In The Discovery, a scientist has proved the existence of an after-life, which leads to an incredibly high amount of suicides worldwide. He proceeds with the research and the film takes us around the effects of it, including on his own son.

Two young brothers escape a UFO death cult and decades later after trying to forget about it, an old video tape surfaces, leading them to solve some mysteries, putting back down the same path looking for answers.

A man played by Jason Bateman has just relocated to California where he bumps into someone he used to know from way back in his school days. Things seem fine at first, but time reveals that the former classmate is holding a huge grudge against him that could cost him a lot.

A recently deceased soldier’s family is grieving when they are introduced to a man who claims he was the soldier’s close friend. He is invited to stay at their home when some unsettling event take place, causing suspicion from the family about the supposed friend.

Based on the novel of the same name, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is set in 1970s London where the British secret service hunts a Soviet double agent. It’s an all-star cast including Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

A former detective who quit due to his acrophobia (an extreme fear of heights) is hired to help prevent his friend’s wife from taking her own life but along the way, things take a turn for the worse.
