Jade worked with the brand last year as one of their Tastemakers to kick off their #ThatsDazs campaign tag and helped the brand refresh its identity on platforms like Instagram. With other projects in the works, we caught up with Jade to get the latest on what else she’s been working on lately.
ONE37pm: Congratulations on this partnership! I wanted to first start by asking when you first discovered your passion for design.
Jade: Growing up I was always very artistic, and I stayed drawing and making things. I really loved fashion in middle and high school, but I ended up going to college for management, which meant I would also have a business background. I started learning basic design on the side and found that it was something I was naturally good at in terms of making art digitally.
ONE37pm: How did you approach this project from a design standpoint?
Jade: Häagen-Dazs approached me again for this project, and I was so excited! They told me to have fun with it, and I just tried to interpret each flavor with an abstract concept. I wanted the design to be mouthwatering, unique, and fun. As an artist, I’m known for vibrant color designs, so I definitely wanted to incorporate those elements into that as well.

ONE37pm: What was the inspiration behind this design?
Jade: I was inspired by each pint flavor, and wanted to interpret that through each design. For example, the Churro flavor features abstract designs that actually imitate a churro. The flavors really inspired how I approached this project.
ONE37pm: How does being in Brooklyn influence your art and talent?
Jade: Being in a city where there’s so many people and personalities inspires me because it’s so diverse! I love people watching and seeing everyone’s cool and colorful outfits. Being in Brooklyn definitely inspires me to keep going because it’s filled with so many creatives.
