Gary Vaynerchuk, the founder and CEO of VaynerX, is launching his fifth sneaker with K-Swiss—the GV005. Based on one of the brand’s most iconic styles—the “Classic VN”—the release celebrates Vaynerchuk’s early days of childhood. “Very simply, this is probably the sneaker that is most near and dear to my heart,” Vaynerchuk says in a video.

It’s gonna be flipping on StockX soon
As a kid, Vaynerchuk was an avid fan of the New York Jets, feeling involved in a community of peers. As the son of an immigrant, this inclusion was paramount. His parents couldn’t afford a fancy, official team jersey, so his mother hand-knitted one for him. Embellished with a "5", the jersey represented so much more than a team.
Vaynerchuk still frequently throws up a number five in pictures, harking back to that childhood moment. And today’s sneaker launch celebrates that feeling of self-awareness.
The concept of five is discreetly located five times on the shoe: The vamp perf, vamp loop, heel counter molded overlay, the top eyelet and the tongue overlay. Other exciting easter eggs await, like a patch on the inside that reads, “You’re gonna die.” There is also a “one of a kind card pouch hang tag, as a nod to Vaynerchuk’s early entrepreneurial days in the baseball card market,” according to a press release.
The cobalt colorway, a successor to the coral colorway that was released at ComplexCon and sold out in minutes, is available today, Nov. 25, for $110. “I hope you enjoy them as much as we did making them,” Vaynerchuk says.
