The Skin Clarifying Cleanser is a gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory product designed to stop build-up and breakouts from the Bolden Skincare line. The cleanser also goes along well with the SPF 30 Brightening Moisturizer (which is retailed for $15.98).

Founded by Brooklyn native Aisha Benson, Chloe and Chad was created to offer consumers organic products as an option for their skincare routine. Skin discoloration and uneven skin can be a common problem amongst individuals, and the toner serves to balance the skin. The cleanser can also help with skin irritation and serves to keep the skin moisturized.

Founded by Tristian Walker in 2013. Bevel is a men’s grooming company that has a line dedicated to men’s skincare. Created to exfoliate and detox the skin, the Beauty Bar Trio was created as a part of the JACQ’S skincare line. The bar contains lavender, cocoa butter, and yucca, amongst others. Barbara Jacques developed the JACQ’S line after the traumatizing event of having an ovarian tumor while pregnant. Years later, Jacques’s skincare line is thriving, becoming one of the top skin lines for African-American women.

Developed by former makeup artist Lesley Thornton, the Klur Gentle Matter Daily Moisturizer Cleanser is a unisex cleaner for refreshing and cleansing the skin. The product contains antioxidants, as well as organic botanicals. The cleanser runs for $22 and can be mixed with the Klur Skin Soil (priced at $40) for optimal skin hydration. Both products are available on the Klur website.

• Our Favorite Product - Shea Body Lotion, $39.99, $19.99

Founded in 2003 by Olowo-n'djo Tchala, Alaffia was created to serve the various skin and hair needs of African-Americans. The Shea Body Lotion is specifically for people with normal to dry skin. The lotion is a mixture of shea butter and lemongrass and is unscented to avoid skin irritation.

• Our Favorite Product - The Black Girls Kids Sunscreen SPF 50, $15.99

Finding a good sunscreen can be a tricky process. That process becomes even trickier when it comes to finding a good product for kids. The Black Girl Kids Sunscreen SPF 50 is a highly rated product created by Shontay Lundy. The BGS Line has become one of the most in-demand skin care lines over the last couple of years, and the sunscreen is vegan and cruelty-free.

• Our Favorite Product - Bump Clear, $20

Inspired by his late grandfather, Frederick Benjamin was created by founder Michael James as a way to help African-American men with their hair and skin needs. The Bump Clear is a post-shave and bump treatment that prevents skin irritation from shaving bumps and ingrown hairs while also moisturizing it. Developed by She'Neil Johnson and Nicolette Graves, Base Butter is a skincare line for oily and acne-prone skin. All products are designed to nourish and protect the skin while using gentle ingredients to avoid skin breakouts. While Johnson and Graves decided to shutdown Base Butter in August 2023 to pursue other career endeavors, you can still showcase your support by buying the remaining products left in their inventory

We all know the importance of a good exfoliator as sometimes you need something a little more powerful to really cleanse your skin and pores. The Kaike Sugar Scrub does just that. Developed by Keli Smith in 2015, the Kaike brand is all plant-based. The Sugar Scrub, in particular, is meant for your entire body (not just the face) and helps to restore softness in the skin.

Developed by Nikisha Riley, FolieApothecary is an all-natural line that focuses on holistic skincare. The Prickly Pear Face Serum is also a unisex product that evens and tones the skin.
