What's the difference between flannel and plaid?
While similar, flannel is type of fabric whereas plaid is an actual design pattern. So a shirt can be both flannel and plaid, which is what you mostly see in flannel shirts.
How should I wash a flannel shirt?
Most flannels can be machine washed. However, it's important to pay attention to whether or not the shirt has shrinking properties. If the flannel you are considering is prone to shrinking, then you'll want to air dry instead of putting it in the dryer.
When can I wear a flannel?
