2021 has been a big year for Pharrell's Team ICECREAM. The iconic skate brand/team—which had been essentially dormant since the early 2010s—has been back at it in recent months, releasing a myriad of new parts and building out their new team roster. They'd hinted at a return back in April, and then put out a part with Andre Beverley in July, confirming the team's renaissance. Now fully back in the swing of things, ICECREAM just released a banger of a part from Daniel Scales, featuring the LA-based, Miami-raised skater in his first full length feature part.

Team ICECREAM Welcomes Daniel Scales with a Killer Video Part
Daniel Scales grew up on ICECREAM videos, and even took on the nickname "Skateboard D" as an homage to the brand's founder, the legendary Skateboard P. For a burgeoning skater who grew up on ICECREAM parts, this was the culmination of a long career of infatuation with the brand. "This is a full circle moment for me," Scales said. "Growing up I loved BBCICECREAM. I wanted a tee so bad. One year for Christmas, my sister finally bought me one and I cherished it. The tee was too big for me, but I wore it for years and eventually grew into it. To be welcomed to the team now really is a childhood dream come true."
This is a full circle moment for me.
- Daniel Scales
The video was shot by Kevin Perez and features a song by Majid Jordan, made exclusively for the part.
The part, which was shot in Miami and LA, features a bevy of ledge tricks and other classic street tricks, all shot masterfully by Perez in a signature style reminiscent of early 2000s/90s parts. The ender is a truly miraculous flip in/flip out tailslide; watching it will make you want to get out there and skate.
It's good to have ICECREAM back in the game. Their first few parts this year have been a welcome return to the community; I can't wait to see what they cook up next.
