Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have become synonymous with Liverpool success over recent years, but there's a player creating plenty of goal scoring opportunities for the Reds this season.

Diogo Jota joined the Anfield side in 2020, but this season the Portuguese star is beginning to hit his stride with Liverpool and that bodes extremely well for the future of the club.

Jota had plenty of Premier League experience prior to his arrival after spending a few seasons at Wolverhampton Wanderers, but now the 25 year old is showing that he's good enough to make an impact at one of the top flight's most historic clubs.

History of Jota

The Portuguese attacker began his Paços de Ferreira, where he played for the club's youth academy and eventually rose to the senior team.

Early success in Portugal saw Jota move to Atletico Madrid, however, he'd never get his opportunity to shine with the Spanish club after going on loan to Porto and Wolves.

England has been his second home for years though, with Wolves providing stability for himself and other growing players over the years like Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore.

Jota completed his move to Liverpool in 2020 and despite the immense talent surrounding him he's found a regular place in Jurgen Klopp's squad alongside Mane, Salah and Roberto Firmino.

The Liverpool star is also an avid FIFA esports player and owns a gaming company called Diogo Jota Esports.

As part of his regular enjoyment with the video game, he streams often on Twitch and has played in various high-profile tournaments against high level competition, including with Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Style of Play

Jota is extremely dynamic in terms of his positioning and how well he creates chances with the ball at his feet.

While he can play on the wing, Jota is a true forward because he slots in centrally when asked and also loves dropping a bit deeper at times to receive the ball similar to some of his Liverpool teammates.

With the return of Mane and Salah from the African Cup of Nations, Jota can provide Liverpool with another strong attacking option either from the start or off the bench.

Jota's Future

Jota has immense promise not only for Liverpool but he's also another bright player for the Portuguese national team alongside Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Reds playmaker will be looking to play a role as Portugal aim to qualify for the World Cup in March's UEFA playoffs.

Meanwhile, the opportunities for Jota are endless at the club level, especially as Mane and Salah continue to rise in age. Salah's contract situation hasn't been resolved and that could mean that Liverpool are looking at the future with Jota and newly-added Luis Diaz.

Jota has become one of the top scorers in England this season and for that reason there's no doubt that Liverpool can bank on him growing in their system under Klopp for many years to come.
