The 2019 NBA season has kicked off and the Kings of basketball, Ryan Haney and Michael Saintil, are here to dish out their hot takes on everything hoops. From Zion Williamson to NBA 2K20, if it’s got to do with pro basketball, the fellas are taking it on. That’s right, it’s #HoopsSZN, and the boys are back with another episode of Hype Corral.

The duo begins this episode talking about what’s on everyone’s mind: Williamson’s absence from the New Orleans Pelicans’ season opener. The rookie, who many consider to be the most hyped player since LeBron James, missed the regular-season opener due to a torn meniscus, and he isn’t expected to play for another six to eight weeks. The hype hosts send their well wishes to Williamson and implore him to consider not slamming every single slam dunk.

The mustachioed duo follows their Zion-talk with a little gossip. In a recent interview with NBC News, Michael Jordan said of Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry: “He’s still a great player. Not a Hall of Famer yet, though.” Was this a real diss? Or was MJ just wryly establishing the fact that, as an active player, Curry isn’t in the Hall of Fame? Ultimately, that’s up to the hype hogs to decide for themselves, but Haney and Saintil certainly have some thoughts.

It’s 2019, and so you can’t talk basketball without talking NBA 2K. Haney and Saintil offer some of their suggestions for improvements to future installments of the series and discuss its explosive path to becoming the best-selling game of 2019. Despite some early snafus, the newest issue of the series has become an absolute smash hit. The hype hosts love the game but feel there’s some room for increased realism. It is the future, after all.
