Spain has featured some of the sport's greatest La Liga goal scorers in the history of football.

With the 2022 season just a few months away, top scorers like Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr. are nearing a return to the pitch.

Real Madrid is coming off of an unbelievable season that saw them win Spain's top flight and the UEFA Champions League.

Today, ONE37pm takes a look at the 10 best La Liga goal scorers of all time.

1. Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi is widely considered one of the greatest players of all time and he owns the record for La Liga goals with 474.

The former Barcelona legend averaged roughly 0.9 goals per game and helped the Blaugrana win 10 La Liga crowns.

Barcelona benefitted greatly from Messi's presence for over 17 years.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo established his legacy at Real Madrid when he scored over 300 goals and won two La Liga titles.

The Portuguese star had six seasons where he scored 30 or more goals in Spain's top flight.

Ronaldo scored many iconic goals for Los Blancos and that led to him becoming one of the club's greatest talents.

3. Telmo Zarra

Zarra was one of the most prolific goal scorers in La Liga history.

The Spaniard spent the majority of his career at Athletic Bilbao and he played a huge role in guiding the club to a La Liga title in 1943.

Zarra also won five Copa del Rey crowns with Bilbao, and he's leading scorer in the competition's history.

4. Hugo Sanchez

Sanchez was one of the most prominent Mexican players to feature in La Liga and became a massive star in Madrid.

The El Tri attacker won five straight La Liga titles with Los Blancos from 1986 to 1990.

Sanchez also scored 29 international goals for Mexico.

5. Raul

Real Madrid has a long history of elite strikers and Raul was one of the best for the club.

Raul scored 228 goals in his time with the Madrid side after spending 16 seasons with the side.

6. Alfredo di Stefano

Di Stefano played for Madrid in the 1950s and 1960s, but he was way ahead of his time in terms of talent.

The Argentine was considered one of the club's all-time greats and won eight La liga titles after coming over from Millonarios.

7. Cesar Rodriguez

Rodriguez played for Barcelona for many years and scored over 200 goals with the Blaugrana.

The Spaniard won 13 titles altogether during his career, including five La Liga championships.

8. Quini

Quini made his name at Sporting Gijon before spending several seasons with Barcelona in the 1980s.

Benzema is the only current player on this list and the Real Madrid legend continues to grow his legacy.

10. Pahiño

Pahiño played for several top sides in Spain, including Real Madrid, Celta Vigo and Deportivo La Coruña.

The Spaniard scored over 100 goals with Los Blancos.
