The path to an NBA championship is not easy. Teams have to endure the six month marathon that is the regular season and then battle through three months of post-season play. And beginning this season, teams also played through a midseason tournament in the middle of it all. What happens after that championship is won? Well, you go out and do it again.

Former Chicago Bulls offensive coordinator Tex Winter, who invented the ‘Triangle’ offense and won nine championships as a coach, famously said: "You're only a success for the moment that you complete a successful act." Simply put, you have to do it again. That’s exactly what Nikola Jokic the Denver Nuggets will attempt to do this season after winning the 2023 NBA Finals. So who stands in their way of repeating? Here are the five teams with the best 2024 NBA title odds as of November 2023.

7. Minnesota Timberwolves: +2000

  • Last Season's Record: 40-42
  • Franchise Championships: 0
  • All-Stars: Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been building something special the last few years and it seems as though this year it is all coming together. They run with two big men, KAT and Rudy Gobert, who have proven to be the best interior duo in the league. Add in the prolific scoring and athleticiscm of Anthony Edwards and you have one of the best teams in the NBA. They will have to go through some stacked teams in the West and don't have the most experience, so it's fair to expect a struggle in the playoffs for the TWolves.

6. Oklahoma City Thunder: +2000

The biggest surprise of this NBA season is the emergence of the young Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC were perennial contenders in the 2010's led by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, but ultimately blew the team up shortly after Durant made his move to Golden State.

Through meticulous trades and engineering a winning culture, the Thunder have completely turned their franchise around. Led by MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and one of the best supporting casts in the NBA, the Thunder remain very lethal. Because of their youth they sit with the sixth best odds to win it all, but will surely be a top 4 seed come the playoffs.

5. Phoenix Suns: +1600

  • Last Season's Record: 45-37
  • Franchise Championships: 0
  • All-Stars: Kevin Durant, Devin Booker

It should be no surprise that a team with two 27+ per game scorers is heavily favored to win the title next year. Despite a turbulent 2023 campaign, odds makers still like the Phoenix Suns. That's in large part due to the fact that the Suns added a 22 PPG scorer in Bradley Beal.

This Suns team without question has the talent to make a deep run and even win a championship, but if the last few years have shown us anything it's that a better team beats better players everyday. The Suns still had an otherworldly stacked roster in 2023 and fell 4-2 to the Nuggets in the Conference Semi-Finals. If the Suns can somehow make it past the Nuggets, there is no telling how far they'll go.

4. Milwaukee Bucks: +650

The Milwaukee Bucks won their second NBA championship ever in 2021 but had a bumpy 2022-23 campaign. A slew of injuries hit the Bucks locker room over the course of the season, with auperstar Giannis Antetokounmpo dealing with a nagging knee injury and a number of role players sidelined. They eventually lost to the Miami Heat in the first round of the NBA playoffs, an upset that few predicted.

The Bucks had a mini rebuild this offseason, adding head coach Adrian Griffin (before firing him six months later, ultimately hiring his replacement Doc Rivers), and trading for future hall-of-fame point guard Damian Lillard. It taking Giannis and Dame some time to gel, but if they do click it could be one of the most unstoppable duos the NBA has ever seen.

3. Los Angeles Clippers: +475

  • Last Season's Record: 44-38
  • Franchise Championships: 0
  • All-Stars: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George

Since former Microsoft CEO and eccentric billionaire Steve Ballmer bought the Clippers in 2014, he has spent every waking moment and dollar to manufacture them into a competent franchise. The Clippers have been a franchise in the NBA since 1970 and are one of only six teams to never reach an NBA Finals.

Steve Ballmer has once again pushed all his chips in the middle by trading for superstar guard James Harden who was unhappy with his situation in Philadelphia. There is no denying that this is the most star-studded roster in the NBA, with three of the ten active NBA players who made the all-75th anniversary team. If the Clippers can stay healthy, there is no reason they can't lift the Larry O'Brien trophy come end of the season.

2. Denver Nuggets: +475

  • Last Season's Record: 53-29
  • Franchise Championships: 1
  • All-Star: Nikola Jokic

Nikola Jokic has quietly emerged as arguably the best player to ever touch an NBA court from his generation. He led the Denver Nuggets to their franchises first NBA Championship after dominating the Miami Heat 4-1 in the NBA Finals. Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon both took huge steps, and Jamal Murray proved he could return to form post injury.

The Nuggets were able to maintain the majority of their Championship rotation, despite losing two-way guard Bruce Brown. Although throughout the NBA's history we've seen a slew of repeat champions, the last team to win back-to-back rings were the Warriors in 2017-18, who had two All-NBA players and a starting lineup of All-Stars.

1. Boston Celtics: +255

  • Last Season's Record: 57-25
  • Franchise Championships: 17
  • All-Stars: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown

The Boston Celtics were without a doubt one of the best teams during the 2022-23 season. That roster only got better this offseason through a number of signings and trades. Their most notable add was power forward Kristaps Porzingis, who has shown immense promise as a two-way big. They also strengthened their roster on the defense end, adding all-defense guard Jrue Holiday.

The Celtics came just one game away from returning to the NBA Finals, but fell short to the Miami Heat last season in game seven of the Conference Finals. There have never been higher expectations for Jayson Tatum and his Celtics squad, but the question begs, can the Celtics win their first chip since 2008?
