Apple TV+ is a new ad-free subscription service, arriving this fall, for original shows and movies that will be part of the redesigned Apple TV app, which will continue to offer hundreds of thousands of existing movies and TV shows.
“Apple TV+ looks incredible,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said. “This is just a sneak peek, the beginning of something truly exciting.”
- Apple TV+ price will be announced this fall.
- Apple TV+ will be available in the updated Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. The new Apple TV app will be available as a software update in May and it will come to Mac for the first time this fall.
- The Apple TV app will be available on Samsung smart TVs this spring and on Amazon Fire TV, LG, Roku, Sony and Vizio platforms at a yet-to-be-decided date.
- Apple TV will offer “channels” à la carte with no additional apps, accounts or passwords required. Channels include HBO, Starz, Showtime, CBS All Access, Smithsonian Channel, Epix and more.
To help introduce Apple TV+’s upcoming content, Cook brought out famous friends Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Jason Momoa, Alfre Woodard, J.J. Abrams and Sara Bareilles.
