Leila Alaoui was a French-Moroccan photographer.

Her work has been displayed across the globe, and explored themes of migration, cultural identity, and displacement.

Jean-Luc Monterosso, the director of the Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, described her as one of the most promising photographers of her generation.

“There was an internal light that illuminated both her and her work,” he said.

In 2016, Leila was on assignment for Amnesty International in Burkina Faso, a country in West Africa. She was working on a collection of photographs focused on women’s rights.

During her assignment, gunmen opened fire at a hotel and cafe in her area. Ms. Alaoui was shot in the leg and thorax.

She died from her injuries.

She was 33.

“I remember meeting her,” says Rayan: Founder and CEO of Oncyber.

“It's the type of moment where you meet people who have a general truth that they really live by 100%,” he recalls about Leila.

For many creators in the blockchain space, art is the compass guiding them in this new frontier.

Rayan admits, “I've never really spoken about this to anyone, but now that you ask me, I think this passion to create and to live your truth, no matter the cost and no matter the dangers and risks--I found that incredibly inspiring.”

The Foundation for Oncyber

Rayan’s father was an art curator, so he spent his childhood surrounded by beautiful things.

Meanwhile, Rayan started programming at the age of thirteen. He built numerous digital products, and shortly after selling his first company, he discovered NFTs.

“From my perspective of the art world, it immediately clicked as to what it could enable creatives to do, and how it could change the balance of a game that was very imbalanced,” Rayan says.

Rayan noticed there were very few tools for people to contextualize the art and NFTs they were collecting. And any tools that existed were often limited by two dimensions.

So he decided to build a 3D platform, and create a space where people could bring their digital collectibles to life.

What is OnCyber?

Oncyber is a metaverse platform that makes it easy for anyone to create their own 3D immersive experience within the comfort of their browser.

Anyone can log into Oncyber with a digital wallet, like Metamask. They can select a free space and immediately begin personalizing it with their digital collectibles.

Visitors to Oncyber don’t even need a digital wallet. They can simply click on an official URL that directs them to any public space.

The Oncyber Guide is a valuable reference, whether you’re a casual visitor or a skilled developer.

Oncyber is compatible with multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Tezos, Polygon, and Solana.

The platform is truly designed for the open metaverse, which means it runs on top of free and open-source software, and adopts 3D open standards.

More than a Gallery

Oncyber spaces can go beyond the simple display of art and NFTs.

Using iFrames, people can embed interactive content and websites seamlessly into their Oncyber worlds.

This includes games, music, documents, and more.

In fact, some Web3 native companies are even conducting their team meetings in Oncyber spaces.

Users can hold live streaming events in Oncyber, watch YouTube videos, or create art and record music in front of their digital audience.
To learn more about the latest features, you can tune into Oncyber’s weekly Twitter Space with Rayan and Bharat Krymo.

Living Your Truth

In Oncyber, the possibilities are endless.

“It's kind of a portal into someone's creativity, someone's hallucination, someone's consciousness,” Rayan says.

Oncyber is a place where artists can immortalize their work on the blockchain. It’s a way for someone to wear their heart on the world’s transparent and immutable sleeve.

Oncyber can provide a glimpse into someone’s truth.
