Thales Machado, also known as Omente Jovem, is a Brazilian artist best known for his fluid, intuitive and personal art style. He is a visionary artist known for telling his story and visions via his artworks. ONE37pm had the pleasure of asking him about his start in NFTs, goals in the space, and much more.

ONE37pm: How has your artist journey changed since joining NFTs? How did you start?
Omente: I started using Photoshop on my 12 y/o to make designs for a Clan of a free FPS game that was very famous in Brazil (Point Blank and Combat Arms), at 15/16 y/o I started making designs for my music friends and started creating a name in my city and was looking to expand to an international audience, so I would really be able to live off my designs, because making in dollars would be 5x that of my native currency, which is well undervalued and poorly distributed, it was difficult and still is for common people to pay $100 for a good cover here – with this vision in mind, I started to work and publicize my work on Twitter, that's when I saw Etiene Crauss selling his first digital pieces on SuperRare, I was quite curious to understand and fell down the rabbit hole.
I really created my artistic journey in the NFTs, I was always a digital designer and I never had much contact with physical artworks and I never imagined the art market to be something accessible to me, I still didn't have the concepts of "Designer and Artist" well placed in my mind, but when I got to know NFTs I realized that the agony I felt when creating Designs was just my desire to express my own ideas without having to fit into a second concept or idea that I often didn't believe in – NFTs was the path I found for my artistic and financial freedom by doing and expressing what I really want has been a blessing, I am living what I am living.
ONE37pm: Do you prefer physical or digital?
Omente: Digital, because that is where I started and have the knowledge, but I'm little experimenting with the physical to do physical artworks that I judge as good ones and improve my eyes to the digital, and train my creativity.
ONE37pm: What is your favorite piece?
Omente: I don't really have one, but I am grateful for the concept I was able to build via "Late Night Love", I have a lot of interpretations and visions about this work, but maybe it's worth writing about it another time – it was really organic the way it turned it my "logo" and one of my most popular visuals, I like it.
