ONE37pm's 1/1 Artist Spotlight is a series that focuses on giving love to 1 of 1 NFT Artists. Whether they're from the traditional art world or just got started in art through web3, we want to highlight and help you get to know those who are up and coming.

A 1/1 NFT is a unique, one-of-a-kind digital collectible where no other exists other than the piece itself. We hope to introduce you to talented and incredible people in the NFT space and the reasons they love doing what they do.

Demon Ego is a multimedia artist, also known as "narrator of disasters." All of his pieces are inspired by his desire to create a world-space of my own. His art reflects the answers that he is after about himself. Some of his favorites include monsters, artists working on demons, and everything about the origins and forms of surreal beings. You can find his art on Foundation.

Who or what are some of your biggest inspirations?

DE: The reason I started creating artworks (which I was able to figure out years later) stems from my childhood fears, nightmares, traumas, and my desire to create a world-space of my own. All of this encompasses human nature and the answers I'm after about myself, so my sources of inspiration are things that come up for the same reasons. In other words, everything that I can find an answer in my own mind, anything that can answer my questions inspires me. Horror films, comics, monsters-demons of Japanese Traditional Art and Religious Systems, thrillers and horror novels; monsters, artists working on demons, and everything about the origins and forms of surreal beings are my inspiration.

How has your artist journey changed since joining NFTs? How did you start?

DE: My NFT adventure started in 2021 when I saw the posts of an artist I followed on Instagram. I hadn't heard of it until then (: I researched later and decided that my best place to start at that time would be Tezos. I minted my first NFTs in the Hicetnunc. I can say that my art is now more creative and I’m much more hardworking thanks to Metaverse.

In my 15 years of art adventure, I have created over a thousand works in different media and sizes, but I have never been as productive as in the past year and a half.

Do you prefer physical or digital art?

DE: I need to touch the paper first. I love the richness of digital media, but physical is always my priority. Because I started there, I practiced art in physical for a long time and so I am more in control and more independent there.

How would you describe your art style?

DE: I define myself as a multimedia artist, my works are also have multi-style. Staying in a certain style or media is not for me. That's why, in my latest works, I combine everything that I have tried and loved so far and that I think will add more depth to my art.

What is your favorite piece?

This is a very difficult question to answer, because I don't think it's possible for an artist to choose a favorite artwork. Maybe it's my last work, but after that I want to create a better one.

What do you hope to accomplish in the next year?

My ultimate goal and my biggest motivation for working further: To take part in art history with my works. For this, of course, it is necessary to reach some stages, so my goal for the next year is to be a part of an international NFT exhibition and to reach more people there.

When do you feel most inspired to create?

I have always loved working at night; I love to create new things in my studio while other people asleep, with no other people around, accompanied by music or a movie or documentary.

Who are 3 artists you have your eyes on at the moment?

3? There are so many, but ok I will say the first 3 that come to mind: @RedruMxNFT

@schauermann_

@lucianaguerraok

What advice would you give to an artist starting in the space right now?

With the lessons I have learned from the mistakes I have made and the small success I have achieved so far, I can say: Focus on your art, not money, don't rush anything and take your time.You can sell well today, but there's no guarantee of tomorrow, so it's not all about money and being able to catch a flame. Keep your mind open and nurture your art for a fire that will never go out, follow your instincts & art, not big names & collectors. As long as you nurture what you do and develop it, the right people will find you and offer their respect and love. And never give up!

Would you rather be relatable or aspirational to your audience?

There is nothing like experiencing the feeling of awakening a desire in the minds and hearts of others. Thus, you can establish a tighter, deeper relationship with them.
