Diamonté Harper, known to most as Saweetie, is a California-based rapper joining Travis Scott, J Balvin, and BTS as artists who have earned a special distinction: Their own McDonald's menu collaboration.
Within the Saweetie Meal, you can expect a Big Mac, four-piece Chicken McNuggets, medium fries, a medium Sprite, "Saweetie N' Sour Sauce," and Tangy BBQ Sauce. Announced only July 29th, the meal is now available at most McDonald’s but will only last a limited time.
If you're not familiar with Saweetie, you may be familiar with some of her hit songs, "My Type," "ICY GIRL," or "Bestfriend," tracks that have each accumulated hundreds of millions of streams that are going viral on TikTok. The 28-year old has also collaborated with Doja Cat, Post Malone, Jack Harlow, and DaBaby.
Saweetie was born in Santa Clara, California, and learned at an early age to love rap music. Her parents were serious hip-hop minds who blared Tupac on the speakers of their home stereo while cleaning. As a result, she began creating music at the age of thirteen. After high school, Saweetie studied at San Diego State University before transferring to the University of Southern California. It was there where Saweetie received her bachelor's in communications. Right out of college, she began to emphasize her career within the music industry.
Since 2016, Saweetie's career has been on full throttle, releasing High Maintenance, ICY, and Pretty Summer Playlist. In addition, her single "Best Friend" featuring Doja Cat received so much traction that she released a remix album. As of August 2021, she has over 12.3 million followers on Instagram, 4.5 million TikTok followers, and nearly 20 million monthly listeners. The multiple platinum and gold-certified artist has not taken her foot off the gas, as she regularly releases music.
