It's All in the Details: Meet Photographer Lihi Brosh

When I met Lihi Brosh last month at the ONE37pm office, one thing was immediately clear: she operates on a different frequency than most. She takes her time in conversation, and is unable to hide her passion for art. Though we met through the world of music, her focus spans far beyond just that realm.

After an incredible first impression, I began to learn more about Lihi and her unmatched photography skills. Before long, it was clear we needed to interview Lihi as soon as possible; people need to be familiar with this talented creative, as well as her unique outlook on life and art.

1. How did you first get involved in photography?

It started when I wanted to get into an art high school and my teacher enrolled me in a photography class, I was 13 and I remember how instantly fell in love with it. It was as if a new world opened up before me, allowing me to focus and pay attention to things in a way I hadn't before. Photography became my true passion at the age of 14, I took matters into my own hands and started producing fashion editorials. Immersed in the world of fashion, I found myself photographing on big sets and runways, capturing the essence of style and creativity.

2. What do you believe sets New York City apart as a locale for photography?

That's a great question! It is the diversity, the strong sense of culture, history, and the vibrant energy around.
Additionally, the prevalent media presence in New York City fosters a sense of openness, making people more receptive to being photographed.

3. How would you describe your work to someone who's never seen it?

Raw, young, energetic photography Influenced by reigning photographers spanning from the ‘70s to the ‘90s, 

4. As an experienced photographer, how has your style or approach to shooting evolved over the years?

Throughout my experience as a photographer, my style and approach have evolved, focusing on mastering technical aspects initially and later emphasizing storytelling, emotional connection, and adapting to different environments, resulting in a more intuitive and collaborative process.

5. Can you describe your most memorable photo shoot with an artist and why?

One of my favorite photoshoots was a recent, spontaneous encounter with A$AP Ferg.

It was an unplanned moment that added to its memorability. We decided to step outside the studio and explore the surrounding street. Playing with the interplay of shadows, we captured a series of images that turned out to be some of my all-time favorites. The spontaneity of the moment and the resulting photograph hold a special place in my heart.

6. What advice would you give to an aspiring photographer based on your own journey?

For street photographers, learn the history of pop culture in the city/ neighborhood you live in: the evaluation of the location and how it led to what we're seeing and experiencing at current times.

Study key figures, subcultures, attention to micro fashion, artist, photographers, musicians, and their influence on that change the face of the place.

Research is a MASSIVE part of documentary street photography.
