Fresco Trey Bets On Himself With His New Song "Draft Kings"

Fresco Trey is continuing to build momentum with his latest track, "Draft Kings." This release comes a month after his career-defining EP Heartbreak Diaries. We've previously detailed the seven-track EP and analyzed Trey's lyrics and emotions that went into the project. So if you haven't read it already, check it out! 

In Trey's latest song, he asserts his confidence in himself. He drops the lyrics, "Hit up DraftKings I bet a hunnid on myself. I been all alone ain't never need nobody else I'm at the top floor Sipping margaritas off the shelf." The song is a celebration of Trey's hard work and persistence of believing in himself. The music video, which also dropped today, sets a medieval scene where Trey rules the kingdom in this world. Additionally, you can see Trey sitting at the king's seat at the table of a feast with himself, the centerpiece of a press conference, and showing off his melodies in front of his castle and at luxurious mixers. The song's production opens up with a catchy medieval melody that contains a pluck for the first four bars, then ends with a mallet-Esque instrument, keeping with the same melody. By the time the chorus hits, the tune is utilizing a dark piano. The percussion remains consistent with Fresco's sound for past releases, and it works perfectly. On the high end of the spectrum, ‎splititupbenji!, the track producer, utilizes fast hi-hats, crisp claps, and 808s that aren't overtaking the track. 

We talked with Mike Boyd Jr, the Head of Artist Relations and Music Strategy, at VaynerMedia to discuss how he decided to come together to work with Fresco Trey. In discussion with Boyd, I asked, "What attributes did you see in Fresco Trey that made him perfect for this collaboration with DraftKings?"

With his unique melodies and a distinct voice, Trey has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in hip-hop. Trey combines pop with tough production and memorable lyrics that dive into his psyche and conflicts. Before releasing Heartbreak Diaries, Trey worked with Lil Tjay on his track "Feel Good," a melodic track accompanied by soothing melodies from Tjay and Trey and a catchy guitar. The music video recently passed one million views, with the track closing in on two million streams on Spotify. 

Additionally, the budding artist recently signed with Warner Records. The future is bright on Fresco Trey's horizon. In the song "Draft Kings," Trey asserts his confidence in himself and is coming to terms with his future, knowing that the fruits of his labor are coming his way.
