Sitting through the 2021 in-person FGC (Fighting Game Community) tournament known as CEO (Community Effort Orlando) was a rewarding experience.
It felt so good to watch some of the FGC's best compete against each other in a live setting jam-packed with exhilarated fans in attendance. At the end of the tourney, CEO's very own promoter and face of the whole operation Alex Jebailey presented a banger of an announcement in video form. For the community of avid players that love BlazBlue: Centralfiction and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, it's time to rejoice! Because rollback netcode will finally be implemented in both games in order to provide a much more stable and smoother online experience. That major update lends further credence to a welcome trend of fighting game developers leaving the ancient delay-based netcode behind to embrace the infinitely better rollback netcode system.
There are a wealth of fighters out there that utilize rollback to perfection (Guilty Gear Strive, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, Injustice 2, etc.). But there are others that incorporate it in a much less impressive manner (Street Fighter V and Tekken 7 come to mind, sadly...). After looking across the genre landscape, we selected five fighters that are in dire need of implementing rollback in the best way possible. We'd be elated to hear that one or even all of these games got an online suite upgrade that could breathe new life into its dedicated communities.
